Setup Tasks for Administrators

Verify installs, assign user roles, enable AI event monitoring, enable notifications

Updated over a week ago

Complete the following tasks to ensure your EROAD 360 environment is fully configured for Clarity Edge.

1. Verify Successful Installation and Vehicle Assignment

On the Admin > Clarity Dashcams page, dashcams should appear with status Installed.

  • If you see the Pending Assignment status: assign the dashcam to a vehicle.

  • If you see the Pending Installation status for a dashcam you know was installed: have the installer use the Installer Wizard to complete the installation process.

2. Assign Dashcam User Roles

Administrators who work with dashcams access the following two areas. From the main menu, select:

  • Replay: This is where you manage and review video footage from the dashcams. Replay user role required.

  • Admin > Clarity Dashcams: This is where you manage you dashcam inventories. Dashcams user role required.

To assign users permissions to access Replay and Clarity Dashcams, go to Admin > User Manager > select a user or Add User > Security.

Selecting Clarity Dashcams provides full dashcam access, including Activity. Activity enables viewing dashcam activity on the Tracking page.

3. Configure AI Monitoring and Voice Prompts

Clarity Edge AI can detect many driver behaviors. Enable/disable the particular AI events you want to monitor. This is a company-wide setting and applies to all installed Clarity Edge dashcams.

Additionally, you can turn on voice prompts that drivers will hear when the AI detects the given behavior.

1. Go to Admin > Clarity Dashcams and select Manage Detectors.

2. On the Detector management panel, select to enable road-facing and driver-facing AI detectors and voice prompts.

3. Select Save.

4. Enable Notifications

As a best practice, enable harsh event and dashcam offline notifications.

1. Go to Admin > Clarity Dashcams and select Settings.

2. Toggle on the notifications you want and select the applicable options in the pop-up that displays. Select Update settings.

  • Events: Email sent when video uploads are triggered by the selected AI and harsh-driving events or manual trigger (by drivers).

  • Dashcams offline: Email sent when dashcams have been offline for the time threshold you select. Chose from one day up to seven days.

  • Video Activity Report: Daily dashcam video activity reports sent to your email address.

5. Verify Data Retention Period

By default, EROAD retains video clips (and associated notes and documents) in dedicated cloud storage facilities for 18 months from the date of upload. Administrators with the applicable permissions can adjust the retention period at Admin > Clarity Dashcams > Settings (as shown above). You can configure the data retention period from three months up to 36 months.
