Clarity Edge uses artificial intelligence (AI) to continuously assess inputs from in and around the vehicle – including driver behavior, vehicle movement, traffic elements, and contextual data – for their potential risk. This helps you predict, prevent, and reduce the occurrence of high-risk events.
With the help of AI, Clarity Edge detects/recognizes visual cues (open mouth=yawn), interprets the cues (yawn=driver fatigue), and responds (trigger video upload to the Replay video portal, and/or issue in-cab alerts).
Clarity Edge AI can detect the following behaviors, or AI events.

| Speed sign violation | Driving over the speed limit. |
| Stop sign violation | Failed to stop fully or at all. |
Driver AI |
| These events are observed by the main dashcam driver-facing camera or the optional fatigue camera.** |
| Distraction | Driver looking away from the road ahead. |
| Yawning | A sign of fatigue. |
| Mobile phone | A phone in the driver’s hand or near their face while the vehicle is in motion. |
| Smoking | A cigarette or vape in the hand or mouth. |
| Seatbelt unfastened | Not a wearing a seatbelt. |
| No driver | Camera lens has been covered or obscured by something. |
Fatigue AI |
| These events are observed by the optional fatigue camera, which uses enhanced fatigue-detecting AI. |
| Frequent blinking | Driver is blinking a lot, sign of fatigue. |
| Eyes closed for two seconds or more. | Indicates fatigue, possible microsleeps |

** The optional fatigue camera takes over observing distraction and yawning events from the Clarity Edge main camera. The fatigue camera can detect blinking/eye closure through sunglasses.
While AI detection is an extremely useful tool in coaching drivers and providing exonerating evidence, no detection should be taken as absolute fact until verified and acknowledged by an authorized supervisor.
