Video Tagging

What the tags mean, automated and manual tagging

Updated over a week ago

Tagging streamlines the video enrichment process and provides a consistent vocabulary to describe incidents shown in video clips. On the Replay page, the Tags column displays the automated and manual tags associated with each video clip.

Tags are color coded as follows:

  • Red: severe

  • Yellow: moderate

  • Green: good (safe driver)

On the Replay page, use the Tags dropdown to filter the list to videos that show behaviors you want to monitor, such as yawning or distracted driving.

Automated Tagging

Edge automatically tags videos that are uploaded because Edge observed an AI event or measured a harsh driving event. Diamond symbols indicate events that were detected by AI.

Requested videos and manually triggered video uploads are not tagged unless you manually add a tag to the video.

Manual Tagging

For searchability and incident management, you can manually add tags after reviewing videos. To add tags:

1. On the Replay page, select a video.

2. On the video's details page, under Event review, click Select next to Tags.

For AI events and harsh events, the first tag displayed tells you the reason why the video was uploaded.

3. In the Tags panel, select the tags you want to associate with this video, and then select Save. Note the following:

  • The tags are categorized by Severe, Moderate, and Good and correspond to the color coding you see on the Replay page.

  • Harsh event tags are not included on this panel because harsh events originate from telematics data, not Edge AI capabilities. You cannot delete/add harsh event tags.

  • For AI events, the automated AI event tag is already selected. We recommend not unselecting automated AI event tags, as indicated by the diamond symbol.

After adding tags, they appear on the Replay page. For AI and harsh events, the first listed tag is the automated tag that indicates why the video was uploaded.
