Automated Health Checks: Fault Detection

Learn more about how the fault detection capability works

Automated health checks enable fleet managers to proactively monitor camera health, identify issues early, and resolve them before they impact operations.

How It Works

  • Clarity Edge performs an automated health check.

  • If a fault is detected, it displays on the Admin > Clarity Dashcams page, in the Faults column, within the next daily check. (Checks occur once a day.)

    • Select the dashcam row to go to the Dashcam health page, where you see a panel that describes the fault and step-by-step troubleshooting instructions.

  • Once resolved, the fault automatically clears within 24 hours.

Example of fault description and troubleshooting steps on the Dashcam health page

Currently, Edge detects the following fault types:

Camera unavailable

Camera is not sending video to the dashcam. This may be due to a loose connection, software error, or camera fault. Footage could be interrupted until fixed. Applies to road, driver, fatigue, side, and rear cameras.

SD Card undetected

No SD card detected. Video recording or saving may be blocked.

Lens covered

Camera lens appears covered or obstructed, potentially impacting footage quality and safety-event detection.

Applies to road, driver, fatigue, side, and rear cameras.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • In Replay, request the latest footage from the affected camera to confirm the issue.

  • If the problem persists, physically inspect the camera hardware and cabling, then request footage again to verify.

  • If the issue remains after inspection, contact EROAD Support with your vehicle information, fault details, and steps already attempted.
