Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports to remain compliant

Updated over a month ago

To help you remain DVIR compliant, EROAD Drive uses DVIR notification cards to prompt you to perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Notifications appear when you add (pre-trip) and drop (post-trip) vehicles and trailers. As needed, you are also reminded to perform inspections when you log out.

To perform an inspection:

1. On the Dashboard, tap the DVIR notification for a pre-trip or post-trip inspection.

A Pre-Trip Inspection or Post-Trip Inspection screen displays.

2. On the Pre-Trip Inspection or Post-Trip Inspection screen, tap a vehicle location listed on the left side of the screen.

Inspections are organized by physical location on the vehicle or trailer. Tapping a vehicle location opens a list of components that require inspection.

3. Inspect each of the listed components.

4. If a component has a defect, tap Has Defect.

The component’s row expands to display options to describe the defect.

Notice that in this example for In Cab, the green 0 changes to a red 1 to indicate one found defect.

5. Tap the option that describes the defect.

6. Continue inspecting the components for this vehicle location until you complete the list.

7. Tap the next vehicle location and inspect its components, tapping Has Defect for any components with defects.

8. After inspecting all locations and their components, tap Complete inspection.

A second Inspection screen displays.

9. If the vehicle is safe to drive despite its defects, check the box next to “Identified defects do not affect safety or result in breakdown.”

If the vehicle is unsafe to drive, leave the check box blank.

10. In the Odometer field, enter the reading.

11. Tap UNSATISFACTORY or SATISFACTORY.

You have completed a DVIR inspection.

Your carrier may have chosen full complete inspections. The process for performing inspections is the same, except that you must select OK to confirm each non-defective component.

The vehicle location list on the left displays the number of components remaining to select OK or Has Defect, as well as the number of defects. Complete inspection becomes selectable when you have OK’d all the non-defective components.
