Set up a geofence alert so you can monitor time on site

Updated this week

Time on site, sometimes called dwell time, generally refers to the amount of time truck drivers spend at facilities waiting to drop off and pick up loads. You can use geofence alerts along with location reporting to help you monitor time on site. Location Management permissions required.

To create geofence alerts for time on site:

Note: This assumes you have created geofences already. See Create a geofence.

1. On the 360 main menu, select Admin > Location Manager.

2. Under the Locations tab, select a geofence, and then select Edit Settings.

The Location Edit Settings window displays with the General tab selected.

3. In the Time Out (mins) field, enter the number of minutes a vehicle can remain within the geofence before an alert is generated.

4. Select Alerting > Add Alert Plan.

5. In the Add Alert Plan window, specify the alert plan as described in Set up alerts. In particular, be sure to enable the Location Timeout alert.

You have enabled an alert that notifies you when vehicles remain within a geofence beyond a specified time limit.

The Location and Location Summary reports provide dwell time information. Go to Reports > Create to find these reports. See Generate reports.
